Woodland Adventures, Leafy Treasures & Lots of Fun!
What a lovely week at Sunny Days as we round off our ‘All About Me and Wellbeing’ topic and begin our exciting new adventure, ‘Woodland Wonders’!

We had huge excitement as we enjoyed our first proper fire of the autumn, safely toasting hot cross buns for our snack. There was lots of learning around fire safety, listening and working together - followed by the very important job of eating them!
Our woods have, as always, been full of adventure. The children have loved climbing, balancing, swinging and bouncing their way around the trees, with lots of time spent playing at the den too. The climbing tree provided a particular challenge for our smaller legs, as the younger children worked out how to climb, hold on, swing and bounce, building confidence and physical strength as they challenged themselves in their own way.
And of course, no trip to the woods would be complete without a little imaginative play! The ice cream shop is still going strong, with plenty of woodland ice creams being made, sold and served to very patient customers!
We also took our creativity into the woods this week, carrying our paper and glue with us to make our leaf collages surrounded by the very things we were creating with. The children searched for interesting leaves and woodland treasures, deciding what to collect and where to place them. It was a lovely way to combine creativity with exploring and noticing the natural world around us.
Our woodland adventures also took us on the hunt for signs of autumn. We discovered what the squirrels had left behind from their snacks and made our own journey sticks along the way, collecting little treasures as we explored.

Back in the glade, we danced with ribbons to music, watching them twist, swirl and fly. We continued exploring feelings and preferences, chatting about our favourite foods, colours and stories and discovering what makes each of us unique.
Teamwork and problem-solving were a big part of our week too, as we worked together to get our outdoor guttering the right height and length for sending cards, balls and pinecones through. Inside, we experimented with colour mixing - creating what felt like every shade of brown imaginable!
Our maths explorers investigated 3D shapes, while puzzles and threading helped develop those all-important fine-motor skills, concentration and perseverance.
As we say goodbye to All About Me and Wellbeing, we are so proud of the confidence, friendships and independence we have seen grow.
Now it’s time to turn our attention to the wonderful world around us as we dive into Woodland Wonders. We can’t wait to see what adventures our woods have waiting for us!
